Sommelier Michael Florence moved to Telluride in 1993. In 1996, Michael was granted an opportunity to study wine under the tutelage of "Wine Goddess" Elaine Palminteri at the Excelsior Café, awakening a passion for travel and education in the wine & food industry. Over the last 12 years, Michael has spent each off season travelling to wine country in Australia, Italy, Argentina, Chile, California, Oregon and Washington in pursuit of a more intimate knowledge of the people and places of wine. Alongside his studies and travels, Michael has received his certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
